Felice Newman, Captain Jack's Wharf, Provincetown, 2012

Felice Newman was born in New York City in 1956. She co-founded Cleis Press  in 1980, a vanguard of independent publishing for 35 years. She was inspired to begin painting in Provincetown during her stays on Captain Jack's Wharf as she watched the sky, land and sea trade their colors back and forth in a daily conversation. Her first influences were Mary Giammarino and the many other plein air artists who work there. She is a student of Harry Folsom, painting with him in Provincetown and New York. Her paintings are sold in New York and Provincetown. She lives in Provincetown, MA and Palm Springs, CA with her wife, Constance Clare-Newman.

Felice Newman is the author of The Whole Lesbian Sex Book: A Passionate Guide for All of Us  (Cleis Press, 1999, 2004). Information on her work in somatic coaching and sex education may be found here
